Zhang Mao Met with the Republic of Seychelles Vivian Falk-Taff, Ambassador to China

  On the morning of April 25, Zhang Mao,Director of the State Administration for Market Supervision, met with the ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles, Vivian Falk-Taff. Zhang Mao said that it is necessary to strengthen exchanges between China and Seychelles and collaborate in the areas such as competition policy, consumer rights protection, market supervision, standards, certification and accreditation, and promote the development of China-Seychelles economic and trade relations.

  Zhang Mao said that the newly established State Administration for Market Supervision functions in the whole process of production, circulation and consumption, and carries out the comprehensive supervision and law enforcement on market access, market fair competition and market consumption environment. In recent years, the State Administration has vigorously promoted the reform of the commercial system, reduced the threshold for market entry, improved the accessibility, and stimulated the internal motivation of the market,which has gotten obvious results with the continuous growth of the market entities.     

    Zhang Mao said that the traditional friendship between China and Seychelles is profound. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Seychelles in 1976, the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries have developed smoothly and have played a positive role in the economic and trade exchanges.The State Administration for Markets has reached a consensus with the Seychelles Fair Trade Commission and the Seychelles Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning on signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the corresponding fields, which will effectively promote cooperation in the areas of economy, trade and fair competition. The two sides should further strengthen exchanges and communication, promote the establishment of institutional cooperation between the government agencies and departments of the two countries, explore cooperations under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and jointly promote the development of China-Seychelles economic and trade relations.

  Vivian Falk-Taff said that Seychelles is highly looking forward to the visit of Zhang Mao. At present, Seychelles is improving the relevant legal system and she hopes to learn from China's relevant experience through the exchanges between the two sides, especially the rich experience accumulated by the State Administration for Market Supervision. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to strengthen the information communication between the two countries in related fields and better promote the further development of friendship between the two countries.
