On the afternoon of July 3, Zhang Mao, Director of the State Administration for Market Supervision, met with the visiting British Ambassador to China, Ms. Wu Bain and her team. Zhang Mao pointed out that we would further promote the cooperation with Britain in the fields including administrative enforcement of intellectual property, standardization, certification and accreditation, and drug and cosmetic supervision, and further promote the sustained and stable development of Sino-British economic and trade cooperation.

Zhang Mao introduced the duties of the State Administration for Market Supervision and the work of administrative enforcement of intellectual property rights. He said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of intellectual property rights. The State Administration for Market Supervision and the State Intellectual Property Office will continue to step up the protection of intellectual property rights in accordance with the law, step up the daily law enforcement and supervision of patents and trademarks, strengthen the comprehensive law enforcement power of intellectual property rights, and equally protect the legitimate rights and interests of all kinds of market entities at home and abroad. Zhang Mao pointed out that in the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up, China's development needs to continue to expand its opening to the outside world. We still need to learn from the advanced experience of developed countries. Under the background of globalization at present stage, we disapprove of trade protectionism and we believe that there is no winner in the trade war. At present, Sino-British economic cooperation is deepening. We treasure the achievements made in the "golden age" of Sino-British relations. We hope to further strengthen cooperation, promote exchanges and learn from each other within the scope of our functional areas and create a good business environment for the development of Chinese and foreign enterprises.

Ms. Wu Baina expressed full appreciation for the cooperation achievements made by Britain and China in recent years, and agreed with China's trade liberalization measures to continue to expand its opening to the outside world. She looked forward to the relevant departments of both sides consolidating the existing good foundation for cooperation, jointly pushing forward economic and trade exchanges in various fields to achieve new results, and making positive contributions to the stable development of Britain-china economic and trade relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on beef product market access and other related issues.
